Director of the South Carolina Catholic Conference, Michael F. Acquilano, J.D., released a statement about the U.S. Supreme Court taking up the South Carolina Planned Parenthood case.
The court is scheduled to hear Kerr v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic in the coming spring session.
“The nation's largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, receives hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars annually. We have long waited for the Supreme Court to decide whether states have the right to block public funding from abortion providers," Acquilano said. "Their unconscionable business model ends the lives of children and preys on women in vulnerable situations. Taxpayers must not be forced to fund this business against their own consciences, nor should the state be required to legitimize and support the destruction of human life."
