If you can, please attend the subcommittee meeting in the Gressette Building, Room 308, at the State House at 10:00 a.m. Arrive by 9:00 a.m. to speak with your senators and ensure that you get a seat.
Please send a letter of support to the subcommittee HERE and urge them to support the bill.

Rep. Shannon Erickson introduced a bill to provide breakfast and lunch to all children enrolled in schools that qualify for the School Breakfast Program. The bill also ensures that students have sufficient time to eat and get water if needed.
Children around the state who are growing up in poverty situations depend on their school for sustenance throughout the day. By providing free breakfast and lunch for all students at these qualifying schools, we can ensure that South Carolina children have the nutrition they need to be successful and healthy students.
We commend Rep. Erickson for her sponsorship of this bill.
Feb 7 - 8
On Feb. 7, the Predatory Trade Practices Act (S. 910) was found favorable with amendment by the Senate Special Ad Hoc Subcommittee.
On Feb. 8, the bill was debated in the Labor, Commerce, and Industry Committee and reported favorably. It now moves to the full Senate.
The bill would prohibit marketing practices that aim to take advantage of people most in need. Specifically, this bill would address predatory lending practices like charging unreasonably high interest rates and targeting vulnerable communities.
We applaud Sen. Tom Davis for his work on this bill and we urge the Senate body to take a vote on this bill and support it.
