Happy Catholic Schools Week 2025 and National School Choice Week!National Catholic Schools WeekCatholic Schools Week (CSW) is going on now! During this week, Jan. 26 through Feb. 1 this year, the nation celebrates in a special way the importance of Catholic education. Catholic schools have touched the lives of countless souls across the world, in our country and our state. An education is an invaluable tool; it sets up a child for success. A good education can brighten a person’s future and give him or her many more opportunities throughout life. A Catholic education recognizes that a child is not only his or her academic career — a child is made up of a body and an immortal, beautiful soul. Time spent at a school Mass, in adoration or religion class is never wasted. Our all-powerful and loving God uses those precious moments to shower young souls in graces that will take hold and bear fruit. As Venerable Fulton Sheen wrote, “Can we say that a man is truly educated who is ignorant of the first principles of life and truth and love — which is God?” A well-rounded education that teaches children about their Creator provides them with opportunities for academic success, plus a chance at true and lasting happiness and fulfillment in Christ Jesus. National School Choice Week For families to enroll in Catholic schools or other forms of education, the government must protect the rights of parents to choose the best options for their children. And, Gov. Henry McMaster signed a proclamation to mark this week as South Carolina School Choice Week! To celebrate School Choice Week in South Carolina, Charleston RISE and the National School Choice Awareness Foundation are hosting a talent showcase and school choice rally on Thursday, Jan. 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event will begin at the University of South Carolina Alumni Center followed by a march to the State House. Families deserve to choose the best educational option for their children. Please join us to show your support for education choice in the Palmetto State — all are welcome! We hope everyone has a blessed and enjoyable Catholic Schools Week! |
