The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit has scheduled oral arguments on Dec. 7 for Bishop of Charleston v. Adams, or the Blaine Amendment case against the state of South Carolina. The court will hear the case on the feast of St. Ambrose, a fierce defender of the Christian faith against paganism.
The Diocese of Charleston is suing the state, and thereby in his official capacity Gov. Henry McMaster and the S.C. Department of Administration, over the racially and religiously discriminatory Blaine Amendment that was included in the state constitution in 1895 and again in a later revision in 1973.
Thank you for continuing to keep faith with us on this important case. We pray that a day will come in which all children are provided a quality education, no matter the color of their skin, ZIP code or socioeconomic status in South Carolina.
